Summer Youth Celebration (SYC)

The highly anticipated Summer Youth Celebration (SYC) has finally arrived!

As many of you heard during our Youth Sunday, SYC is a highlight for many of our students. With the focus on helping youth develop and grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ through a balance of bible study, recreation and worship. Our students are excited to have an opportunity to spend a week at camp. Our theme this year, 'Imitator', will teach our students how to be imitators of Christ, not just at church but throughout every aspect of their lives.

Please join us in praying for our youth and leaders who are attending camp this year. Pray for the health and safety of all our campers and for safe travels of our teams coming to help. Specifically be praying for the youth and leaders from our church, that these weeks at camp will bring everyone together as a group.

We have 2 students attending Senior High week. Be praying that these students are open to the Spirit and feel confident in responding to God. Junior week we have 7 students, most of which are attending camp for the first time. Be praying that this time away from home will be a great experience that will ignite their passion and love for Christ.

We have 4 leaders from our church going to camp for both weeks. Please be praying for their health and energy as they lead our students and that they too would be open to what God is telling them throughout the week.

Thank you for all your support and prayers. We're excited to see how God will work in the lives of our students and leaders!

A word from Kep Pate

Just over five years ago I was blessed enough to come spend ten weeks serving with the JPBC family on my first international mission trip.

Bryn, Juliette, and I had a wonderful summer that year making friendships and learning what it meant to serve.

That summer God placed a call on my heart to serve as the hands and feet of the church and my life would never be the same. Since then I have had the opportunity to serve around the world and have just returned from my tenth international mission trip.

With every adventure God has taught me something new about what it means to love, serve, and to follow Christ. As God has taken me around the world to Europe, South America, East Africa, and continuously brought me back to Canada, the experience has always remained the same, that the call of God to love others is constant and we must continuously pursue creative ways to live it out.

And more importantly, my time in Edmonton has taught me that when God sends you somewhere to serve, the people you meet will love and teach you more about God than you could ever imagine. With that I am excited to share with my church away from home that I will be returning to Edmonton in July with a team of college students from my church in Atlanta, GA to come serve at SYC.

I am so excited that God has made this an opportunity and look forward to reuniting with JPBC and my family in Edmonton.

Kep will attend the morning service on July 10 with a team of missionaires who are here helping with SYC.
Aside from missionary duties, Kep is also
Captain of the Jasper Place Baptist Church Water-Ski Team.
